Frequently asked questions
Are these real fonts?
No. They are separate Unicode characters, mostly from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, that happen to look like styled letters. That is why they survive copy and paste into places that do not allow formatting.
Why do some letters come from a different part of Unicode?
A few styled letters were added to Unicode before the maths block, for example script B, fraktur C and double-struck R. Their slots in the maths block are left empty, so this tool uses the older characters such as ℬ, ℭ and ℝ instead. That is the correct, standard mapping.
Is fancy text bad for accessibility?
Often, yes. Screen readers may read each character by its name, such as "mathematical bold capital H", or skip it, and search engines and in-app search may not match it to normal words. Use it for short decorative bits, not for names, key information or whole posts.
Why do some styles skip numbers or lower case?
Unicode only includes what it includes. Italic and script digits do not exist, so numbers stay plain. Squared and bubble letters only exist as capitals, so lower case letters become capitals. Letters with accents are left unchanged in every style.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. All the styles are generated in your browser, so nothing you type leaves your device.
