How to use the Slug Generator
- Type or paste a title. For bulk use, put one title on each line and you get one slug per line.
- Choose a hyphen or underscore separator, and whether to force lowercase.
- Optionally remove common English stop words such as the, and, of.
- Set a maximum length if you need one. Slugs are cut at a word boundary, never mid-word.
- Copy the result or download it as a text file.

Frequently asked questions
What makes a good URL slug?
Short, lowercase, readable words separated by hyphens. Google treats hyphens as word separators, so they are the usual choice. Avoid dates or IDs unless they matter, because a slug should not need to change later.
How are accented letters handled?
Accents are removed using Unicode NFKD decomposition, so é becomes e and ñ becomes n. Letters that have no accent to strip use a fixed mapping: ß becomes ss, æ becomes ae, ø becomes o and ł becomes l.
What happens to emoji and other scripts?
Anything that is not a Latin letter or digit, including emoji, punctuation and scripts such as Cyrillic or Chinese, is treated as a separator and dropped. Repeated separators are collapsed into one.
Should I remove stop words?
It is optional. Removing words like the and of gives shorter slugs, but can change meaning, so check the result. If every word is a stop word, the words are kept.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The slugs are made in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded.
