Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. These are static codes: the content is stored in the pattern itself, not behind a redirect link. They keep working for as long as the content (for example your website) exists, and nobody can switch them off or track scans.

Which error correction level should I use?

M (15%) suits most uses. Choose Q or H if the code will be printed small, may get scuffed or will have a logo placed over it. Higher levels make the code denser, so very long content may need L.

Why won't my coloured QR code scan?

Scanners need strong contrast between the modules and the background. Use a dark foreground on a light background and keep the margin (quiet zone) at 4 modules. The tool warns you when contrast is low or the colours are inverted.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The code is generated entirely in your browser and nothing you type is sent to a server.

PNG or SVG?

PNG works everywhere and is fine for screens and documents. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, which is better for print and signage.
