Convert length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, data size, time, energy, pressure and fuel economy, with every unit for your value in one table.
How to use the Unit Converter
- Choose what you're measuring, such as length, temperature or fuel economy.
- Enter a value and pick the units to convert from and to. Swap reverses the direction.
- Read the result as you type, or scan the table below it for the same value in every unit of that kind.

Frequently asked questions
Are the conversion factors exact?
Where a definition exists, yes. The inch is exactly 2.54 cm, the pound exactly 0.45359237 kg, the US gallon exactly 231 cubic inches (3.785411784 L) and the imperial gallon exactly 4.54609 L. Results are shown to 12 significant digits.
Why are US and imperial cups, pints and gallons different?
They were standardised separately. A US pint is 16 US fluid ounces (about 473 mL) while an imperial pint is 20 imperial fluid ounces (about 568 mL), and the fluid ounces differ too. Recipes from the US use US cups (about 237 mL); many others use a 250 mL metric cup.
What is the difference between GB and GiB?
GB (gigabyte) is the SI unit of 1,000,000,000 bytes, which drive makers use. GiB (gibibyte) is 1,073,741,824 bytes (2³⁰), which many operating systems report, sometimes labelled 'GB'. That's why a 1 TB drive shows as about 931 GiB.
Why does a higher mpg give a lower L/100 km?
Miles per gallon measures distance per unit of fuel, while litres per 100 km measures fuel per unit of distance, so one is the reciprocal of the other. Doubling mpg halves L/100 km. The converter applies that inverse relationship rather than a simple factor.
How long is a month or a year here?
Calendar months and years vary, so the converter uses averages from the Gregorian calendar: a year of 365.2425 days and a month of one twelfth of that (30.436875 days).
