Frequently asked questions
How are the days counted?
The headline counts calendar days from today's date to the target date, so tomorrow is 1 day away. The live countdown below it measures the exact time to the target moment in your own time zone.
How is the date of Easter worked out?
With the Anonymous Gregorian algorithm (also called the Meeus/Jones/Butcher method), which gives Western Easter Sunday for any year. It falls between 22 March and 25 April; Orthodox Easter uses a different calendar and often falls later.
What happens on the day itself?
Presets count to the next date on or after today, so on Christmas Day the Christmas preset shows that it's today. Once a custom date has passed, the page tells you how long ago it was.
