Online Countdown Timer

A countdown timer with presets, an alarm and a big display.

About the Countdown Timer

Set a countdown in hours, minutes and seconds or pick a preset, then start, pause or reset. A beep sounds at zero and the tab title shows the time left.

How to use the Countdown Timer

  1. Type the hours, minutes and seconds, or tap a preset such as 5 or 25 minutes.
  2. Press Start. The big display counts down and the browser tab shows the time left, so you can keep an eye on it from another tab.
  3. Pause and resume as needed. At zero the display says Time's up and a short beep plays if sound is on; press Reset to run the same time again.

Frequently asked questions

Will the timer stay accurate in a background tab?

Yes. When you press Start the timer records the exact moment it should end and always shows the time until then, so it can't drift even if the browser slows down updates in a background tab.

Why didn't I hear the alarm?

The beep is generated in your browser and needs sound to be on in the tool, your device not to be muted, and the timer to have been started with a click or tap, because browsers block sound that a page plays by itself.

How long can a timer be?

Up to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. For a countdown to a specific date, such as a holiday, use the Days Until Countdown instead.
