Frequently asked questions

How is an annual salary turned into an hourly rate?

It is divided by 2,080, the number of hours in a 40-hour week worked for 52 weeks. A 120,000 salary is about 57.69 an hour. If your people work different hours, enter an hourly rate instead.

Does this include benefits and overheads?

Only if you include them in the rates. Employers often reckon the full cost of an employee at 1.25 to 1.4 times salary once taxes, benefits, equipment and office space are counted, so you can scale the rates up to reflect that.

Does the live meter keep counting if I switch tabs?

Yes. It works from the moment you pressed Start rather than counting ticks, so even if the browser slows the tab down in the background, the time and cost are correct when you come back.
