Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a tip?
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage. A 15% tip on 84.50 is 84.50 × 0.15 = 12.675, about 12.68.
What does rounding up do?
It rounds each person's share up to the next whole currency unit, so nobody has to pay in small change. The extra goes to the tip, and the effective tip percentage is shown.
Should I tip on the amount before or after tax?
Customs vary. Many people tip on the pre-tax amount; enter whichever total you want the tip based on. Also check whether a service charge is already included.
